When it comes to costumes, it's the details that count.

The amount of time and work involved in the embellishment process can often match or exceed the time it takes to make the original garment, and it's for this reason that embellishments increase the price of a costume.

Flo Foxworthy offers four levels of embellishment for bespoke costumes, to suit most budgets. All embellishment will be discussed with the client, and will be unique and complimentary to each individual garment.

Whether you have a very specific design in mind, or if you are happy for Flo to use her imagination, you can rest assured that your garment will receive the same level of care and attention no matter what your budget

All embellishment work is done by hand, with the exception of machine embroidery which is stitched on a professional machine. Flo uses Swarovski hot-fix crystals where applicable, as their glue has proven to be the most secure.

Everything is stitched securely in place, and guaranteed to stand up to the hard use of a performer. Full care instructions will be provided with the completed garments, and Flo will happily repair any item that requires attention.

Embellishments may include any (or a combination) of the following:

Lace, ribbons, machine embroidery, Swarovski crystals (hot-fix and sewn-on settings), pearls, beads, sequins, feathers, fringing... as well as many more unusual trims. If you have something special in mind, please let Flo know!

Level 1 – No embellishment. Garment is plain and can be worn as it is, or can be embellished by the client. Garments can also be returned to Flo Foxworthy to be embellished at a later date.

Level 2 – Lightly embellished. Crystals are used to highlight areas of the garment or to provide a flash of sparkle under stage lights.

Level 3 – Semi embellished. Whether all over the garment or focussed in a particular area, this level of embellishment is designed to be eye-catching. This is the most popular option for semi-professional performers.

Level 4 – Heavily embellished. This level of embellishment is luxurious and show-stopping. Ideal for serious performers who want their costumes to stand out and make a statement.

There is a level 5 but it is only available by special request, and is not included in standard quotes. If you would like a truly opulent level of sparkle and glamour then please ask Flo for more information.

By request, high quality non-Swarovski beads can be combined with genuine stones where a very large quantity is required. This applies particularly to custom-made beaded fringe or fully-beaded garments, and can help reduce the cost of materials dramatically.
